| Leslie: Biased thoughts...heartfelt remembrance! |
“A month-long preparation will never be
enough.”- that was according to the organizers, facilitators and officials of the
Municipality of Estancia a few months
before the CDSA Meet finally arrived. There were many things to prepare, papers
to check and equipment to buy. It seems that hosting of such prestigious sports
event is a great challenge considering that it has been 33 years the last time
Estancia manned the said activity. For sure, it will be another start for the
Estanciahanons.
The hosting of Estancia with the help of
the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Rene S. Cordero and Estancia National High School’s
new Principal, Dr. Marilyn E. Dolendo, our idea of the “5TH CDSA
2016 Convergence” was realized to the extent that even in the opening salvo,
the presentations and the crowd were participated by a massive number of people
not only from Estancia but the neighboring towns as well. There were also more
or less hundreds of sponsors who supported the ADOPT-A-TARP Program to aid the
expenses of the entire 4-day activity.

The program gathered a lot of comments as
to how it was held, the unreasonable expenses it had and the too long opening
salvo due to the heavy rain that showered in the middle of the program. Even
so, the idea of unity and cooperation of the different organizations in the
municipality showed when the 4P’s Parents, Estancia Rescue Team, PNP, and
students played their part without counting something in return. With that, the
negative feedbacks and distractions never gave the production staff the reason
to cancel and skip the students’ and parents’ presentation because it will
affect consistency of the concept. Plus, a month-long practice needs to be
justified. It instead gave everyone a bigger reason to go on because many had
already sacrificed from the start. Everyone shared their time, money and effort
to push through the conceptualized program. If the organizers cancelled parts
of the program, the municipality’s money and effort will only be put to waste.
That will be even more an issue.

| Ang Pamaypay: A sight to behold! |
Some said that the opening program was “overly-done”
for a Sports Event Opening. This is perhaps because people get used to the same
old style of Sports Opening Programs. The one that Estancia had was
conceptualized to be something bigger, a combination of SPORTS and TOURISM that
made it a SPORTS-TOURISM EVENT. The organizers wished the visitors to
understand the culture in Estancia then and now and how each municipality in
the district is connected with each other. With this, the idea of brotherhood and
camaraderie will be strengthened between the neighboring towns. No wonder our pure-bred Estanciahanon
writer-director Gervin L. Acedre, La Guada Founder and the Opening Salvo over-all concept manager, had
put it “As we enter the threshold of
change, thus ‘Emergence Beyond Transition’, we combat diversity and politically
correct the mainstream consciousness of negativism among our people and even in
the minds of our local leaders . We offer the thought of CONVERGENCE and the
soul of ONENESS from the heart of ESTANCIA to its neighboring towns…our
offering, the value of identifying struggles among them and nurturing the
essence of respect, clarity of purpose and valuing humanity…the 5th
CDSA 2016 CONVERGENCE was and is founded in this precepts…during the urn was
lighted…the light of pride has be ignited in the hearts of every Estanciahanon
that forever be will not be extinguished…truly, and I hope our leaders with our
attempt to open up their eyes that it is high time to be more sensitive…see in
the little the greatest like now…5th CDSA is not just a mere MEET
for it is now CONVERGENCE…not just a SPORTS MEET but a SPORTS TOURISM EVENT of
the 5th Congressional District of the Province of Iloilo…”

| UNDENIABLY CONVERGENCE! |
The 5th CDSA 2016 Convergence
taught the Estanciahanons a lot of things: one of which is to never be afraid
to take the challenge. This is also the time to unite and commit ourselves to
the responsibilities that we have as officials, teachers, parents, students and
Estanciahanons for truly, each one of us has something to share. Most of all
recognize that God provides. We were afraid to commit at first due to lack of
facilities and budget but there He came touching people’s hearts to help and
share for the success of the event. Heven rewarded us for our kindness- The Municipality
of Estancia was eventually declared THE OVER-ALL CHAMPION for 2016 CDSA Meet.
See, there’s more we can achieve with POSITIVITY.
